Castello di Meleto: The History of Wine in Gaiole in Chianti since 1256
This Chianti Classico is the soul of Meleto as the Sangiovese grape expresses itself purely and is a true embodiment of the territory from which it comes. It is a traditional Chianti Classico, where the use of only large wood barrels in ageing allows the varietal to express itself at its best.
2017 was a complicated year, marked by extremely cold temperatures in the winter and spring but with a particularly hot summer. The scarcity of rain also contributed to this unusual vintage. All these conditions led to a reduction in terms of yield, but excellent quality. This was made possible thanks to meticulous vineyard management consisting of continuous monitoring and constant working of the land. The 2017 wines, coming from all five macro zones, therefore have excellent aromas and a distinct elegance.
